Significant Club support kept the Lynden Court Market operating, despite adverse winter weather.

The GPS Project, with its undoubted benefits, failed to arouse sufficient sponsorship or farm-owner support. The Outdoor Furniture Raffle with Stephenson’s Furniture sponsorship was a mainstay financial success, helped too by the Noisy/Silent Auction.

Elgar Henry’s Graffiti Cats continued to be most effective. Fairfield Rotary Readers carried out valuable work at Fairfield Primary School, and the ‘new look’ Children’s Christmas Party incorporated the Readers’ pupils and their classmates.

Our Polio Eradication target of $5000 US was met thanks to a Garden Party at Geoff and Shirley Martin’s.

The Club also supported the Summer Science School, Vocational Excellence Awards, Inter-School Debate, Fiji’s St Christopher’s Orphanage, Emergency Boxes, Book Prizes at Fairfield College, Claudelands Park Family Recreational Facilities, and Fairfield Community House (Te Whare o Te Ata).

Rotary Projects included a Rotary Friendship Exchange visit from South Dakota, RYLA, RYPEN, Youth Exchange, and a GSE Team from Southern California. The Club won the District attendance Trophy. District Conference at Napier and RI Convention at Brisbane were well supported.

A Korean International night was attended by the Korean Ambassador.

Doug Laskey and Jim Anderson were honoured as Paul Harris Fellows.
