FAIRFIELD ROTARY QUIZ NIGHT
 
The Cook, 7 Cook Street, Hamilton East.
 
7.00pm 6 December 2023.
 
This is a charity event organised by the Rotary Club of Fairfield, Hamilton.
 
Quiz categories include,General Knowledge, Movies, Music, Sport, Science etc.
 
Great prizes and a fun evening for all the family. No minimum or maximum amount of tean members.
 
Spot prizes and prizes for first, second and third places.

In response to the deepening humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, The Rotary Foundation has created an official channel for donors around the world to contribute funds to support the relief efforts underway by Rotary districts and has designated its Disaster Response Fund  which can be  found here:  https://my.rotary.org/en/disaster-response-fund  as the main avenue for contributions.
Contributions to the Disaster Response Fund in support of Ukraine can be made online at:  https://my.rotary.org/en/disaster-response-fund
 
All funds need to be received into the Disaster Response Fund by no later than 30 April 2022 in order to qualify for use in support of the Ukrainian relief efforts.

Last Saturday, Rotarians from Cambridge and Hamilton assisted with the unloading of approximately 90 boxes of items donated by The Warehouse to Kids in Need Waikato. They are a registered charity based in Cambridge, that supplies care packs to children in foster care, or any child being cared for by someone other than their biological parent. Yesterday at the Hamilton Lake, Dick Breukink a Rotarian from Waikato Sunrise Rotary club ran the ‘2021 London Virtual Marathon’ around the Lake to raise funds for a Rotary charity, Hospice Nepal.
The run involved 11 laps of the lake and Dick was supported by a number of friends from the Hamilton Roadrunners Running club. Our thanks go out to the club and its members for their wonderful support (and the sausages) in helping to get Dick across the line!

Part of the 70 plus members of the community who  came along to the Fairfield Project (adjacent to Fairfield College), on Saturday 31 August, to help with the planting of 2500 native trees in around 2 hours. Fairfield Rotary was represented by 8 members of the club. Information on the Fairfield Project can be found HERE.
VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Hamilton  8 - 12 December 2021
 
Up to 600 volunteers will be needed to cover 2000 shifts across 5 days of competition, health screenings and ceremonies.
 
Roles will include general event volunteers, sports officials, marshals, health professionals, IT management and more.
 
Rotary is a Special Olympics New Zealand Summer Games partner and we are asking all Rotary Clubs across the Waikato to help promote this event in their social media.

Science Box is a project supported by Fairfield Rotary aimed at sparking an interest in science in kids at a young age. Founded by Shalini Guleria in 2018, it is ever expanding and looking for volunteers. Science Box currently focuses it's work in the Waikato region of New Zealand, and hopes to grow this reach to a global level one day.
